Alfred Melbourne - Founder
Farmer Alfred Melbourne is the founder and director of Three Sisters Gardens and a long-time resident of West Sacramento. Three Sisters Gardens is a nonprofit organization bringing community members together to grow food and lives. Their mission is to teach at-potential youth how to grow/harvest/distribute organic vegetables and engage the community to get involved in supporting the at-potential youth population in Yolo County. -
Simren Kaur - Administrative Coordinator
Simren Kaur is our Administrative Coordinator who works remotely from unceded Kumeyaay land (San Diego, CA). She grew up in Sacramento and is a first-generation child of Indian immigrants and a descendant of farmers. As a community organizer with the Sunrise Movement, she understands the importance of centering and uplifting the work of BIPOC organizations in movement building. Her previous nonprofit experience has helped our team formalize our programs and procedures as we grow. -
Kat Burce - Farm Manager

She transitioned to land stewardship, teaching youth & community the importance of connection to what we consume, after witnessing our food system's effects on the overall health of her patients, working in healthcare for nearly a decade. A descendant of rice farmers, she was born and raised on Guam, where she had deep connections to the land and now resides on Nisenan land (Sacramento, CA).

Alejandro Resendiz - Youth Coordinator / Farm Manager Assistant
Alejandro Resendiz is our Youth Coordinator / Farm Manager Assistant, currently studying Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems at UC Davis. He grew up in Yolo County, and is experienced in the agroecology and food system of the region. He hopes to teach youth and community about the importance of land stewardship in agriculture, and deliver the positive community impact that is possible through urban agriculture. Heritage from his family’s Mexican farming roots has also interested him in learning, continuing, and sharing traditional and cultural life ways in agriculture.

Kris Burce - Events Coordinator

Farming at Three Sisters Gardens has been nourishing and healing for her. Through organizing Three Sisters Gardens' many events (Indigefest, educational workshops, bike tours, sunrise yoga, etc.) she hopes to bring community together to share the experience and celebrate Mother Earth and one another.

Carl Richardson - Farm Hand
Carl Richardson is from the Broderick area and joined our team as a Farm Hand in 2023 after going through our Youth Leadership Development Program. -
Izaac Hernandez - Farm Hand
Izaac Hernandez is from Broderick, CA. He began as a youth volunteer and joined our team as a farm hand in 2024.
